Twin sisters Cece and Joce may be under 18, but they’ve already made serious noise in the music scene. Together, they are Gem Shadou, a genre-bending duo blending Reggae, Pop, Hip-Hop, Rock, and more into something their own.
Born with Caribbean roots, music runs in their blood. Inspired by their parents’ musical backgrounds, they started performing young and never looked back.
Since 2018, they’ve lit up stages at Youth Day Global, Jerk Festival, Toronto Diversity Festival, Toronto Caribbean Carnival, Big Brother/Sister’s AGM and even snagged a Mississauga Music Award nomination for Emerging Talent of the Year 2023. You might’ve caught them on CTV News Canada, or blasting through your speakers with tracks like “The Crappy Song”, “What’s Goin On”, “I’m Alive”, “Mama Africa” (ft. Torch), and “Anyway” (Co-Produced by Born Free Records out of Jamaica), becoming international recordings artists.
They’ve since been acknowledged by NVee of K-pop group BLACKSWAN (블랙스완), and Senegalese-Vietnamese rapper Moon (문) on social media for their dancing.
With amazing songwriting, vibrant performances, self-made choreography and a mission to entertain, inspire, and sometimes even parody the world around them, Gem Shadou is just getting started.
